MC01-Lesson 2: Types of Self-Awareness

🧩 Self-Awareness

Learning Outcome

Analyse how internal states influence choices in everyday work and life (Explore).

📘

Internal Self-Awareness

Understanding your strengths, triggers, beliefs, habits, values, and blind spots.
Example: Noticing that during load-shedding chaos, you become more irritable—this is internal awareness.

📘

External Self-Awareness

Understanding how others experience you.

Example

Realising that you speak fast in meetings when nervous, making colleagues think you are dismissive.

🪞

Reflective Self-Awareness

Your “mirror”—the ability to pause, look back, and extract meaning.

The Identity Snapshot offers a reflective overview of the self, encompassing the Past Self—what has influenced me; the Present Self—who I am today; and the Future Self—who I am becoming.
It reminds us that identity is an evolving process rooted in growing awareness.

📘

Present-Moment Awareness

Mindfulness—the ability to find peace in chaos, especially relevant in high-pressure workplaces with constant interruption.
